Self-Set Brief
- Make a small tool roll/pouch for precision screwdrivers, bits, and accessories.
- Keep construction simple and easy to assemble.
- Ensure the design is scalable for full-size screwdrivers and larger items.
What I came up with
This simple design uses a single rectangular piece of material that requires no extra cuts.
For aesthetics mostly, the corners are folded before the edges. This creates neat corners and hides any gaps that could catch on things (a problem I've had on an earlier project).
It alternates tool orientation on either side, stopping the pouch from getting bulky and top-heavy like most tool rolls do and allows it to work well as a foldable pouch.
Each side has two sections - one slotted, one open - so wider tools can fit alongside screwdrivers. Alternatively, when used as a pouch, a hard backing (like card) can be slipped inside the slotted sections to keep its shape and improve ergonomics.
I left out a closure mechanism since no single solution works for every use case, but one can easily be added once it's stitched.
